    Quick answer

Yes — a mobile notary in Singapore can witness your signature at home, at the office, in hospital or at a hotel. The notary still checks your ID, your understanding of the document and that you are signing freely. The fee is the normal notarial fee plus a travel charge; SAL and embassy fees stay the same.

Who Books a Mobile Notary, and Why a Visit Often Saves a Day

People book a mobile notary in Singapore when getting the signer to a notary office is the hardest part of the job: an elderly parent, a patient, three busy directors, or a visitor flying out tomorrow. The notarisation itself is identical; only the location changes.

Our notarisations are done in person — we do not notarise over video — and the document must not be signed in advance. If one of four signers cannot travel, an office appointment simply fails; a visit gets every signature the same day.

Who Typical document Why a visit helps
Adult children with an elderly parent Property or bank POA for India, Malaysia or Hong Kong Parent signs at home, in familiar surroundings
Patients and their families POA, declaration, consent for an overseas matter Ward or nursing home visit, timed around care
Parents with young children Child travel consent, relocation declarations Both parents sign together without arranging childcare
Companies Board resolutions, corporate POAs, bank KYC forms Several directors sign in one sitting
Business visitors in hotels Company POA, bank mandate for home country Signed before the flight, no office trip

Recent doorstep requests came from Tampines, Dover, Science Park and Lorong Melayu — distance is rarely the obstacle people expect.

Home Visits for Families and Elderly Parents

A home visit works best when every signer is present, holds original ID and has read the document beforehand. The notary checks each person's passport or NRIC and watches each signature being made.

For older parents, two practical questions matter. Is the document in a language they read comfortably? If not, arrange an interpreter or translation before the visit, because the notary must be satisfied they understand it. Can they sign in their usual way? A signature very different from the passport one may be queried later by a registry abroad.

Family members may be present, but the notary will usually speak to the signer alone for part of the visit. That is standard practice, not suspicion — it is how the notary confirms the decision is the signer's own.

What we ask families to prepare:

    • The final, unsigned document, printed single-sided, with no blank spaces left to fill in
    • Original passport or NRIC of every signer (and of any witness the document requires)
    • Any photographs the receiving authority wants affixed — common for Indian POAs
    • A quiet table, good light and around 30–45 minutes

Hospital and Nursing Home Signings: What the Notary Must Confirm First

Before witnessing a signature in hospital, the notary must be satisfied of three things: the patient is who they say they are, understands what the document does, and is signing of their own free will. If any of these is in doubt, the notary can and should decline.

The reason is simple. A notarial certificate tells an overseas registry that the signer knowingly executed the document. If the patient was heavily sedated or visibly pressured, that certificate would be false — and such a POA is exactly the kind later challenged in court by other relatives.

How we plan a ward visit:

    1. Tell us the situation when booking. We do not need the diagnosis, only whether the patient is alert, can hold a pen, and when they are usually most lucid.
    2. Check ward rules. Hospitals and nursing homes often need visitor registration and set visiting hours; we fix the time with the family and, where needed, nursing staff.
    3. Consider a doctor's note. A short letter from the treating doctor confirming the patient can understand and make decisions often helps. The notary decides whether it is needed; it never replaces the notary's own assessment.
    4. Keep the document simple. A focused special POA is easier for a patient to understand than a 20-page general POA.

If the patient physically cannot sign, tell us beforehand. Whether a mark, thumbprint or assisted signature is workable depends on the notary's assessment and on whether the receiving authority abroad accepts it — confirm that with the receiver first, not at the land office.

Office Visits When Several Directors Need to Sign

For companies, an office visit lets every director or authorised signatory execute the resolution, POA or bank form in one sitting, with the notary verifying signing authority on the spot. No more one director witnessed and another missed.

Send us the current ACRA Business Profile and any board resolution naming the signatory in advance, so the authority check is done before the notary arrives, not while directors wait.

The rules for company papers themselves sit on our corporate document attestation page; here the point is logistics — one visit, every signer present, one chain to SAL.

Hotel visits for business visitors signing a company POA or bank mandate for their home country follow the same pattern.

Evening and Weekend Appointments Across Singapore

Evening and weekend visits are available by arrangement, subject to the notary's diary, and carry an out-of-hours charge. Book early in the week for a Saturday slot; last-minute Sunday requests are never guaranteed.

Know what an out-of-hours visit cannot speed up. The SAL counter at The Adelphi opens on weekdays, 9:00am–4:30pm, so a Friday-night signing reaches SAL on Monday at the earliest, and embassies keep their own working days.

Availability: weekdays, evenings and weekends by arrangement · Out-of-hours charge: +S$39 per visit (after 6pm, weekends and public holidays)

After the Signature: SAL, Embassy and Delivery

Once the notarial certificate is issued, the document goes to the Singapore Academy of Law — an Apostille for Hague countries, or SAL legalisation then the destination embassy for non-Hague countries. You need not attend SAL yourself.

Step Who does it Typical time
Signing and notarial certificate Notary, at your location Same visit
SAL authentication We submit at the SAL counter Usually processed on the spot once submitted; we submit on the same or next working day after signing
Embassy legalisation (non-Hague only) We submit at the embassy in Singapore Varies by embassy — we quote per case
Return Delivery to your Singapore address 1–2 working days after completion

These are typical ranges, not promises: SAL and embassy stages are outside our control. Unsure which route applies? Our SAL apostille service page explains the choice.

Mobile Notary Fees and How to Book a Visit

A mobile notary visit is priced in three separate parts: the notarial fee for the documents signed, our travel and attendance charge, and any government or embassy fees passed on at cost. You get the total in writing before we confirm the visit.

    Item Amount Notes
Notarisation From S$189 per certified copy · from S$219 per declaration or signature Notary fee and the S$87.20 SAL fee included
Travel and attendance From S$89 per visit By location and number of signers
Out-of-hours +S$39 per visit After 6pm, weekends and public holidays
Embassy step From S$99 per document, plus the embassy fee at cost Non-Hague destinations only
Return delivery From S$12 per order Optional

The prices shown above are starting prices. Your final price depends on the document type, number of pages and destination country, and will be confirmed in a written quotation before any work begins.

Notarial fees are set by the Notaries Public Rules, but travelling time is not a prescribed item — hence the separate travel charge. Several signers at one visit usually cost less than separate appointments.

    To book:

    1. WhatsApp the document, destination country and visit address to +65 3129 4104.
    2. We check it is ready to sign and tell each signer what to bring.
    3. You confirm the quote and slot; the notary visits and we take the originals on to SAL.

When you don't need a mobile notary: if every signer is mobile and near the CBD, an office appointment at Suntec Tower One (7 Temasek Boulevard) costs less. And if the document is only for use inside Singapore, you need a Commissioner for Oaths, not a notary.

Before You Book a Home Visit

Can a notary come to my house in Singapore?

Yes, anywhere in Singapore. The legal steps are the same as at the office — ID check, confirmation that you understand the document, and signing in the notary's presence.

Can a notary visit my father in hospital?

Usually, yes, subject to ward visiting rules and the patient's condition. The notary must be satisfied your father understands the document and is signing freely; if he is confused or heavily sedated at the time, the notary may postpone or decline.

What if my mother cannot sign her name any more?

Tell us before the visit. The notary will assess whether a mark or thumbprint is workable, and you should confirm with the receiving authority abroad that it accepts that form of execution.

Do you work on weekends or in the evening?

Yes, by arrangement and subject to availability, with an out-of-hours charge. The SAL step still happens on the next working day.

How much does a home visit cost?

The notarial fee plus a travel charge, with SAL and embassy fees at cost. Send the document and address for an all-in total before booking.

Can the notary come to a hotel?

Yes. Visitors staying in Singapore can sign at the hotel lobby or business centre, as long as they have their passport and the document is final.
